UnchainedBrainz is a proud woman-owned company founded in Kansas City. We're passionate about crafting innovative, imaginative, and unforgettable experiences that bring people closer together.

We’re also working with local organizations to give back to local families facing hard times through creative experiences.

About Starla

Starla is a native Kansas Citian who lives with her supportive husband, amazingly talented and witty 18-year old twins, and three lively cats who love to help out while trying to complete just about any task around the house! Amidst her juggling act of home and family, she also works as a digital marketing executive at one of the world's largest communications agencies.  

In her spare time, Starla loves to read, travel and collect vintage hats.  Starla has always found that creativity can spark mutual connections between people, often in the most unexpected ways.  In fact, she and her husband had worked together for years but didn't realize they had so much in common until the moment they discovered they had drawn the exact same doodles during a rather mundane meeting--their very own creative meet-cute!  

As a strong believer in the unifying power of creative expression, Starla is thrilled to share her personal journey to bring the promise of UnchainedBrainz to life!

About Janet

Janet is an energetic Kansas City resident, wife, mom, aspiring artist, and businesswoman. Janet has a fantastic husband, who puts up with all her crazy ideas, and is a proud mom of three: two adventurous twin boys (25) and a loving, talented daughter (19), plus one Daisy-dog. Janet loves writing, creating, and working online but is in a constant tug-of-war, trying to balance that drive with her passion for the outdoors, running, hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding (when she can find a mountain).

Janet has worked her whole career in Digital Marketing within big, fast-paced tech companies. In August, she decided to take the leap of a lifetime and start her own business, giving back by creating products and services to reconnect people with each other and themselves. Janet believes something magical happens when people draw, paint, and create together, and that’s been her inspiration for UnchainedBrainz.  

Fun facts about Janet not everyone knows:

  • She has a beautiful, ever-growing family that she cherishes in the country of Panama, the country her mother is from.

  • She’d rather run a very long distance on a muddy trail than shop for clothes for 20 minutes

  • She can recite all the ‘verbs of being’ in less than 4 seconds
